This woman was encompassing every fucking second of my life. Precious seconds where I needed to be planning my revenge not on thinking about her fresh pussy so wet and needy for me.

I walked down the streets of New Orleans, the moon shining down on my shadow. I was doing a favor for Voodoo who was down in Ankeny, Iowa. He was one of the Enforcers for the Chapter, but his granddaddy had been a co-founder of the Royal Bastards, and he'd run with my Father. As I said, the RBMC was family, and that meant that blood coursed through us too.

Voodoo had recently reached out to me asking me to keep an eye out on his grandmother. Some shit was going down and he needed to protect her. Adelaide Laveaux was one of the sweetest old ladies I’d ever met, and one of the most dangerous. While her grandson was a deep believer in Hoodoo, Ms. Adelaide worked her magic in Voodoo. I used to be afraid of her when I was a kid, telling stories about the witch who lived in the swamps, and I had no clue how true those stories were until I met her. She was beyond enchanting, she was Bayou’s Voodoo Priestess.

I decided to go down and visit her tonight. It had been years since I'd seen her and I was in need of some guidance. I was sure she would be able to read me like a book. I had made a deep connection with Voodoo during my exile. He'd reached out to me and had expressed how he didn't agree with what had gone down. He told me that if I ever needed anything, that he could bind the evil spirits and clear my path to see my purpose. He always had a way of bringing his beliefs into the conversation.

After so many conversations and teachings on the subject, a box arrived one day at my doorstep. In it was a Tarot card deck and a note from Voodoo.

Always respect them and they will show you the way.

After a while, I became curious about the religion, and with no one to keep me company but myself, I started to look at Voodoo in another light and to see the Tarot as more than just cards. It became an obsession to learn everything about them. What they signified. They’re history, their readings. But it wasn’t just about learning the cards, it was digging into something deeper. Something that pulled at me.Something so dark I had to protect myself from it at every turn.

Adelaide had once given me a warning and I didn’t heed it until years later.

It was dawn and I was seated at a local restaurant, eating crepes and contemplating my first kill. I kept staring out the window at the people rushing by, wondering why it didn't bother me to take a life as much as it had bothered Ian. To me, it had been natural to pull the trigger in order to survive.
